How a Private Maipo Day Works

About 10 hours with your own guide, from pickup in Santiago to drop-off.

  1. Book for your group

Choose a date and enter the number of travellers on the booking page. The price is per person and usually depends on how many of you share the car and guide, so check the figure shown for your group. One booking can take up to 15 travellers.

  2. Pickup where you are

A wine specialist guide collects you from your Santiago hotel, or from Arturo Merino Benítez airport or the central train or bus station. The listing notes that pickup times can shift with local traffic, so leave some slack in your plans either side of the day.

  3. Concha y Toro and Santa Rita

The first visit goes into Concha y Toro's old cellars and the Casillero del Diablo cellar, with a tasting and an engraved glass to keep. At Santa Rita in Alto Jahuel you taste aged wines, then sit down to an a la carte lunch with Reserva wine at Doña Paula.

  4. Museum, Undurraga and home

After lunch there is time in Santa Rita's Andean Museum. The last stop is Viña Undurraga, with three Reserva wines, brands depending on availability, and another glass to take home. Your guide then drives you back to Santiago at the end of the day.

Three Private Full Days in the Maipo Valley

Three private tours from Santiago, each with lunch included. Prices are per person for two travellers, from Viator in October 2026; one traveller pays more and larger groups pay less each.

PRIVATE TOUR GUIDE

Private Maipo Valley Wine Tours: How to Choose

How per-person pricing works, what each private day includes and when a shared tour suits you better.

If you want a private day in the Maipo Valley that takes in the estates most visitors have heard of, book the private Concha y Toro, Santa Rita and Undurraga tour. It holds 5.0 from 31 Viator reviews and starts from $636 per person (October 2026). Lunch is part of the price: an a la carte meal paired with Reserva wine at Doña Paula, Santa Rita’s restaurant. A wine specialist guide collects your group from your hotel, the airport or the central train or bus station and stays with you for about 10 hours.

If that is more than you want to spend, the private Aquitania and Santa Rita tour starts from $290 per person, also holds 5.0 (from 14 Viator reviews) and also includes lunch. It trades the big-name first stop for a boutique winery and runs 7 to 8 hours.

How private pricing works

Every private tour on this page is priced per person, not per vehicle. The per-person rate falls as the group grows, and the from-price shown on Viator is the rate for two travellers. On the Concha y Toro, Santa Rita and Undurraga day, for example, a solo traveller paid $986 in October 2026, a couple $636 each and a group of eight $434 each. Enter your number of travellers on the booking page and compare the figure that comes back. That figure, not the headline price, is the one to set against a shared tour.

Each private tour also limits how many people can go on one booking. The three-estate day takes up to 15 travellers, the Aquitania day up to 8, and the private Cousiño Macul half day up to 7. Larger groups need to check with the operator or split the booking.

Private or shared?

The shared alternative most travellers choose is the four-winery day with pisco tasting, from $119 per person with 4.9 from 2,725 Viator reviews. It is the most-reviewed Maipo wine tour on this site, and the 4 winery tours page explains how it works. Its shared departures need at least four passengers, and the operator also sells a private option on the same route, with lunch not included.

A private day changes four things. The guide works only with your group, so the pace and the commentary follow your interests. You can be collected from the airport or bus station on a travel day. The language choice is wider: the three-estate day is offered in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese, against English or Spanish on the shared four-winery day. And nobody in your group has to drive. Chile’s Zero Tolerance Law treats 0.3 g/L of blood alcohol as “under the influence”, so after several tastings it pays to leave the driving to someone else.

Which private day to book

The three-estate day suits travellers who want the history. Concha y Toro was founded in Pirque in 1883, and the visit goes into its old cellars and the Casillero del Diablo cellar, the setting of the legend that the founder spread a rumour of the Devil living there to stop his best wines disappearing. Santa Rita dates from 1880 at Alto Jahuel, and its park, main house, chapel and cellars were declared a Historic Monument in 1972. Doña Paula, where you eat, is inside the protected historic house of Paula Jaraquemada. The day ends at Undurraga, founded in 1885, with three Reserva wines. You take home a glass from each winery.

The Aquitania and Santa Rita day suits travellers who prefer a smaller producer. Aquitania was founded by Paul Pontallier, Bruno Prats and Felipe de Solminihac and grows Cabernet Sauvignon in Peñalolén. A sommelier from the winery leads you through the vineyard and cellar to a viewpoint facing the Andes, then pours four wines. Lunch is traditional Chilean food at a local restaurant, with vegan options. In the afternoon you take Santa Rita’s premium tour with four more wines and visit the Museo Andino. The guide holds WSET Level 2, according to the listing, and a three-winery option adds another stop and about 1.5 hours. There is no restroom on board, so plan breaks around the stops.

The horseback ride, country grill and organic winery tasting is for travellers who want the valley from the saddle. It starts with a country breakfast, then a ride along the Maipo River, between vineyards and into the hills, followed by a Chilean country grill with wine by an open fire. The afternoon is at Miraflores, an organic winery, with a Cabernet Sauvignon tasting. It runs 9 hours, starts from $585 per person and holds 4.9 from 53 Viator reviews. The minimum age is 14, it runs in all weather, and one traveller who booked at short notice ate at a farm restaurant in place of the outdoor grill.

The private bike and wine tour from the same operator spends about three hours cycling through Isla de Maipo and its vineyards, with lunch at a country villa and a three-Reserva tasting at Undurraga. It starts from $495 per person, with 4.8 from 31 Viator reviews.

A private half day

If a whole day is too much, the Cousiño Macul private winery tour takes about 4 hours, from $90 per person, with 4.9 from 75 Viator reviews, the most reviews of any private tour on this site. Cousiño Macul sits inside Santiago, in Peñalolén, so the drive is short. Starts are at 10:00 or 14:30, and lunch is not included. The listing describes three wines followed by four premium labels, while its stop summary mentions three, so ask the operator if the number of pours matters to you. The Cousiño Macul page and the half-day wine tours page cover the shorter options in full.

Before you book

Gratuities are not included on the three-estate day, and souvenir photos sold at the wineries are extra. Only travellers aged 18 and over can drink in Chile, so bring ID. Harvest runs from February to April, when the valley holds festivals and grape-stomping events, and Chile.travel advises booking winery visits ahead in high season. Each private tour on this page offers free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure.

Where to go next

For every kind of Maipo day from the city, start with Maipo Valley wine tours from Santiago. If Concha y Toro is the stop you care about most, see Concha y Toro tours from Santiago, and for Undurraga see the Undurraga winery tours page.
