"We loved our Maipo Valley tour. Our tour guide Esme and driver Matias were wonderful. They were kind, informative and very nice. We enjoyed learning about Chilean wine and visiting the different wineries. It was nice to try the different wines and pisco. We had such a great experience and this was such a memorable experience. Would definitely recommend for everyone to do this tour."

MAIPO DAY TRIP GUIDE
Maipo Valley Wine Tours from Santiago: Which Kind of Day to Book
Shared full day, private day or half day: what each costs, what you taste and how lunch works.
Most travellers looking at Maipo Valley wine tours from Santiago end up choosing between three kinds of day: a shared full day that strings several wineries together, a private day with your own guide and vehicle, or a half day at one well-known estate. Each suits a different budget and a different amount of free time, and the main differences come down to lunch and pickup.
For most people the shared full day is the one to book, and the Maipo Valley Wine Tour with 4 wineries and pisco is the clear starting point. It costs from $119 per person and has 4.9 from 2,725 Viator reviews, the most-reviewed Maipo wine tour on this site (prices checked October 2026). You taste at four wineries in about 10 hours, with pickup at your hotel or Airbnb. If you only have a morning or an afternoon, the Marqués de Casa Concha tasting at Concha y Toro is the strongest half day, from $135 per person with 4.9 from 1,223 Viator reviews.
Three kinds of Maipo day from Santiago
The Maipo is close enough to Santiago that every format works as a day trip. Chile’s tourism board puts the first vineyards about 50 km from the city, roughly an hour by road on Route 5 South, and calls the valley the cradle of Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon. What separates the tours is how many wineries you see and who pays for lunch.
- A shared multi-winery day runs about 10 hours, visits three or four wineries with a mixed group and costs from $119 to $135 per person on the tours compared here. Lunch depends on the option you book.
- A private day costs from $290 per person upward, gives you your own vehicle and guide, and on the two private tours featured here, lunch is part of the price.
- A half day visits one estate, usually Concha y Toro, Undurraga or Cousiño Macul, in about 1 to 5 hours, and none of the half days on this site lists lunch as included.
The shared full day: four wineries for the lowest price
The four-winery day suits first-time visitors who want to see how differently Chilean wine is made, from a family farm to a long-established estate, without planning the route themselves. It begins at La Quirinca, a family farm where you meet alpacas and llamas and taste wine and pisco, continues to Santa Ema, and stops at TerraMater around 12:30 pm, where the Zinfandel restaurant serves lunch. The last winery is Undurraga on the Premium Route or Viña Ballek, beside the Maipo River, on the Traditional options.
Lunch is the detail to settle at booking. It is in the price only on the Traditional + Lunch Included option. On the other routes you pay at the restaurant or bring your own food and eat it in the van. Shared departures need at least four passengers, and the operator offers an alternative or a full refund if that number is not reached. Our four-winery tours page walks through each stop and every lunch option in detail.
If you care more about food than about the number of wineries, the Maipo Valley Wine and Food Trail from the same operator starts with a Chilean breakfast tasting, visits La Quirinca and a riverside vineyard and ends at a historic estate linked to Undurraga. Lunch is a fire-cooked meal at Labranza Restaurant, included only on the Full wine trail option. It costs from $135 per person, with 4.8 from 69 Viator reviews, and guiding is in English, Spanish or Portuguese.
A private day: your own pace and lunch in the price
A private tour makes sense for couples, families and small groups who want to choose their pace, or who want lunch settled before the day starts. The Private Maipo Valley Tour with Aquitania, Santa Rita and a Chilean lunch costs from $290 per person and has 5.0 from 14 Viator reviews. It pairs a boutique tasting at Aquitania, which grows Cabernet Sauvignon in Peñalolén at the foot of the Andes, with a premium tour at Santa Rita and its Museo Andino. Lunch at a local restaurant is included, and one booking takes up to eight travellers.
For the three big historic names in one day, the Private Maipo Valley Tour with Concha y Toro, Santa Rita and Undurraga costs from $636 per person, with 5.0 from 31 Viator reviews and lunch at Santa Rita’s Doña Paula restaurant included. Our private wine tours page explains how private pricing works.
A half day: one estate and back by the afternoon
A half day fits a tight schedule or a first evening in Santiago. The Marqués de Casa Concha tasting takes 5 hours, about 3 of them at the winery in Pirque, and ends with ten wines in a private tasting room with a cheese board. There is no hotel pickup: you meet the Turistik bus at Plaza de Armas, Av. Vitacura in Las Condes or Parque Arauco. It is for adults only, and lunch is not included.
The Concha y Toro and Undurraga Vineyards Tour starts from $76 per person with hotel transfers, but its title covers two options: Undurraga only in about 4 hours, or both wineries in 9 to 10 hours. It holds 4.0 from 201 GetYourGuide reviews, and several reviewers booked the one-winery option by mistake, so check which option you are paying for. Our half-day wine tours page compares every short option, and the Concha y Toro vs Undurraga page sets the two estates side by side. If you have only an hour or two, Cousiño Macul is inside Santiago itself; see our Cousiño Macul page.
Viator or GetYourGuide?
Several Maipo tours are sold by the same operator on both platforms, at different prices. The four-winery day is the clearest case. On Viator it starts from $119 per person, while the GetYourGuide version, the Maipo Valley Wine Tour to Four Wineries, starts from $149 per person with 4.8 from 620 reviews and always ends at Undurraga. The Marqués de Casa Concha tasting costs $135 per person on both, with 4.9 from 1,223 reviews on Viator and 4.7 from 92 on GetYourGuide.
Compare the same option on the same date before you book, because a from-price can belong to a cheaper route than the one you want. All the tours named on this page offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure.
Practical points before you book
Chile’s Zero Tolerance Law treats 0.3 g/L of blood alcohol as driving under the influence, so a tasting day with your own car is hard to do legally. That is the strongest reason to take a tour with transport. Every tour compared on this page includes transport from Santiago, either hotel pickup or a meeting point.
Harvest runs from February to April, with festivals in March and April, and the tourism board advises booking winery visits ahead in high season. It describes the wine route as a year-round trip and recommends sun protection and a windbreaker for the evening. The legal drinking age in Chile is 18. If your lunch is not included, Chilean restaurants with table service must suggest a tip of at least 10%, which you are free to decline.

Maipo Valley Wine Tours from Santiago: Frequently Asked Questions
Prices, lunch, pickup, private versus shared, and how to fit a Maipo winery day into a Santiago trip.
In October 2026 the shared four-winery day started from $119 per person on Viator, and the half-day Marqués de Casa Concha tasting at Concha y Toro from $135 per person. Private days started from $290 per person with lunch included. Short winery visits inside Santiago cost less. Prices vary by option and date, so check the live figure before you pay.
For a first visit, the shared four-winery day gives the widest view of the valley: the La Quirinca family farm, Santa Ema, TerraMater and a final estate, all with hotel pickup. It has 4.9 from 2,725 Viator reviews, the most of any Maipo tour on this site, and starts from $119 per person. Our four-winery tours page covers each stop.
Close enough for a half day. Chile's tourism board puts the first vineyards about 50 km from Santiago, roughly an hour by road on Route 5 South. Some wineries are nearer still: Cousiño Macul is inside the city in Peñalolén. The full-day tours from Santiago run about 10 hours because they visit three or four wineries, not because of the drive.
It depends on the tour and the option. On the shared four-winery day, lunch is included only on the Traditional + Lunch Included option; on the others you pay at the restaurant or bring your own. Both private tours compared on this page include lunch. The half-day tours on this site do not list lunch as included, so eat before or after.
Book shared if price matters most: the four-winery day starts from $119 per person against $290 for the cheapest private day here. Book private if you want your own pace, lunch already paid, or a guide in French or Portuguese. One private tour takes up to eight travellers per booking. See our private wine tours page for how private pricing works.
Yes, but driving yourself is risky after tastings. Chile's Zero Tolerance Law treats 0.3 g/L of blood alcohol as driving under the influence. Undurraga says visitors can reach it by bus to Talagante from Terminal San Borja, next to Metro Estación Central, and Cousiño Macul is inside Santiago. For most visitors a tour with transport is the simpler choice.
Harvest, from February to April, is the liveliest time, with festivals in March and April and grape stomping at some events. Chile's tourism board describes the wine route as a year-round trip and advises booking winery visits ahead in high season. Bring sun protection for the vineyards and a windbreaker for the evening, whatever month you go.
It depends on the tour. The same operator sells the four-winery day from $119 per person on Viator and from $149 per person on GetYourGuide, where the route always ends at Undurraga. The Marqués de Casa Concha tasting costs $135 per person on both. Compare the same option on the same date, because a from-price can belong to a cheaper route.
Yes. The Marqués de Casa Concha tasting at Concha y Toro takes 5 hours from a Santiago meeting point and pours ten wines with a cheese board. Undurraga-only tours with hotel transfers take about 4 to 4.5 hours, and a Cousiño Macul visit inside Santiago takes 1 to 1.5 hours. Our half-day wine tours page compares them.
Chile's legal drinking age is 18, so you must be 18 to taste. Some tours set stricter rules: the Marqués de Casa Concha tasting sells adult tickets only, and the Concha y Toro and Undurraga transfer tour is not suitable for children under 12. If you are travelling with children, check the listing's age rules before you book.
